In the Spring of 2021, The University of Texas Department of Theatre and Dance sought to continue its program of presenting theatre in Austin community schools. However, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic presented too many safety challenges to both school communities and performers.
In lieu of an in-person performance, a team of performers, technicians, and artists were convened under the direction of Yunina Barbour-Payne to develop an animatic based on the radio play "Kimmy" by Farah Lawal Harris. This animatic was then presented to smaller groups of students in school libraries in a socially distanced setting. No one on the team had any experience with this type of production.
My role as production coordinator was to develop a remote production process and milestones that enabled students to develop the animatic in only one semester. By using existing resources from Mural and UT Box.
A single Mural board served a "one stop shop" for information and scheduling with links to all relevant folders and assets. Changes could then be discussed and changed in real time during production meetings.
